Start a business in Australia

Register your Australian company with the right foundations.

Company registration, tax registrations and ongoing ASIC support coordinated by a Chartered Accountant, Registered Tax Agent and ASIC Registered Agent.

One coordinated process

Registration is only the first step.

An Australian company needs more than an ACN. The directors and shareholders, share structure, registered details and tax registrations should reflect how the business will operate. Joe’s Practice coordinates the agreed registration work and explains the immediate compliance responsibilities.

  • ASIC company registration and ACN
  • ABN, TFN, GST and PAYG withholding applications where required
  • Support from a dedicated ASIC Registered Agent
  • ASIC annual review and director-resolution support
  • Practical accounting and tax setup guidance

Before registration

Decisions to consider first.

Directors

A proprietary company ordinarily needs at least one director who ordinarily resides in Australia. Overseas founders may require additional support.

Shareholders

Confirm who will own the shares, the share classes and whether any trust or corporate ownership is proposed.

Tax registrations

ABN, TFN, GST and PAYG withholding registrations depend on the company’s activities and expected circumstances.

Common questions

Company registration FAQs.

Does registering a company automatically create an ABN?

No. The ASIC company registration and the ABN and tax-registration processes are separate. The required applications can be included in the agreed scope.

Can an overseas founder register an Australian company?

Yes, subject to Australian legal requirements including resident-director requirements. Our Australian expansion service can scope the additional setup and ongoing support.

Are ASIC charges included?

Professional fees and applicable ASIC charges will be confirmed before proceeding. Government charges can change.
